Two days ago, I was giving my kids a ride home from daycare. While sitting in the car, my 2.5 year old Cedric turned to his 4 year old brother Dante sitting beside him and said, “I am the little brother.”
“And I am the BIG brother!” Dante followed suit enthusiastically.
“I am your little brother.” Cedric said feeling happy that Dante had chimed in.
“I am YOUR big brother and I will protect you!” Dante said with conviction.
In the presence of their budding life-long friendship, I just had to smile. They said this in Mandarin Chinese but it sounded just as cute translated into English.
